Smart Bombs, Think Tanks, and Intelligence

I just rented this newly-released DVD (documentary) Why We Fight; my goddess, it rocks.

But I dunno if I should truly recommend, as it'll make y'all want a gun.

It starts with Eisenhower's departure speech warning not to let the military industry get too much power; the research on "follow the money" is stellar; it includes the assholes in their own words; the grand plan of Iraq is SICK SICK SICK.

Not "conspiracy-ish". Perfectly publicly showable and interesting as hell.

And boy, does Bush come off as "just a puppet". They weren't trying; he's an idiot. Tar and feather Rumsfeld, Wolfowitz, and Cheney first. As in The Princess Bride, I think Bush "gets to keep his ears", to hear the screaming over his roll.

The movie doesn't point a finger at the US for possibly taking out the towers themselves; it doesn't matter who did it in this context. Irrelevant.

SICK SICK SICK. LIES LIES LIES.

I cried; I'm still stunned today anyone could be so evil. While I'm not naive, I think it unthinkable. I could NEVER.

I could never live with every dead body another dollar in my pocketbook.

What's WRONG with these people?!?!?! I can't even fathom GREED at this level.

I want every contractor off the MF stock exchange. They should become public not-for-profits the second they take a contract. Period. Not that they can't fuck that up to, but at least it's a playing field.

And I learned a ton about Eisenhower I never, ever knew. He's used as turning point of history in this.

Can someone please say, "DRAFT!!!!!"? (Don't hate me for that--I truly believe it the only way to stop the machine, Americans are so lulled. In fact, due to how they re-wrote the rules, I myself and Joe could be drafted, and I still say it.)

And would like to share a partial response, because it just makes sense. I knew I supported him for a reason:

"The reason we are certain to beat Abbott is that it requires far less money to share truth than to sell lies. Once truth is let out it jumps and spreads itself from person to person. It doesn't need a jillion-dollar marketing campaign."

What could be more true dan dat?
